This session will provide attendees with a clear understanding of how to effectively manage the costs of injuries and worker’s compensation claims.  The discussion will include prevention, incident investigation, medical claims management, and early return to work strategies.

2 July 22 Legalized Marijuana and Managing Safety

Presenter:
Dave Raslowsky, President, National Safety Compliance, Inc.

With the continuing trend toward legalization of recreational marijuana, this session will provide an update on recent legislation and discuss strategies for managing safety and the legal implications surrounding the issue.

3 July 27 Developing Safety Managers Into Corporate Leaders

Presenter:
Edwin G. Foulke, Jr., Attorney at Law, Fisher & Phillips, LLP and Former Assistant Secretary of Labor OSHA

This session will focus on the skills necessary for Safety Managers to become leaders in their companies. The program will examine how to effectively communicate to the C Suite to not only get C Suite recognition of Safety’s contribution to the company’s bottom line, but also to engage front-line employees in dramatically improving the company’s safety program. This session will also discuss characteristics of world-class companies and explore how the knowledge of those characteristics can be used to bring Safety to a seat in the C Suite.

6 Aug 5 Incident Investigation – Assessing Multiple Causation Factors

This session will provide an understanding of the HFACS system of incident investigation, the HFACS process, effectiveness, and results achieved when it was put into practice at Republic Services.

7 Aug 10 Training Philosophies and New Approaches

As planned, this session will discuss the expanding use of VR, apps, simulations and other in driver training. Though still being finalized, this session will also discuss approaches to the new Entry Level Driver Training requirements.

8 Aug 12 Innovations in Safety

This session will discuss innovative approaches to managing safety related issues, and several uses of technology and software to prevent incidents, enhance reporting, manage safety across an organization, and improve overall productivity.

This session will provide an update on this important issue, with an expanded focus on the variability of risk that is present throughout the day and reliance on the “less traditional safety leader”.

11 Aug 24 Risk-Based Approach to Fatigue Management

This session will provide attendees with an understanding of the Fatigue Impact Risk Assessment (FIRA), the utilization of the data it provides, and the path forward to designing and integrating a comprehensive Fatigue Risk Management Strategy. It will provide a deeper understanding of the Fatigue Management process and provide practical tools for attendees to utilize in their own organizations.
